Overview/Reflection

Using WIX to create this informative website has been a great experience. The software is very easy to use and is designed to help beginners navigate the program with ease. I found myself benefitting a lot from the detailed instructions.

I used the Travel Blog template. The main reason I chose this template is because it caught my attention right away and is appealing to the eye. I also felt like his template offered me a lot of opportunities to display nice pictures and organize all my work efficiently.

I used folio thinking to make everything easily accessible to the reader. I put pictures, and over them, I linked each different page such as the film review and immersion experience so that the reader has access to anything they want to reach on the first page. I made sure each page has a unique and colorful background with text that is easily readable. I also have a bar on the top of the page that shows an overview of all the pages and you can click to go to the desired page. This bar is on all the pages, so whichever page the reader is on, they can still easily access other pages.

I included hyperlinks in my film review at the bottom of the page. The hyperlinks have additional information that is relevant to the topics I discuss throughout the film review. I had a hyperlink that took the reader to the trailer of the documentary I was discussing. Another hyperlink leads the reader to the IMBD page of the documentary so the reader can see information about the film. I included these hyperlinks so the reader has easy access to additional information about the film, and if they are truly interested, they can watch the trailer and hopefully learn more. I also used to pull out quotes to grab the readers attention when they come across of page that has a lot of text.

I included many images throughout the website. The website is meant to inform people about the ocean and marine life so I took this opportunity to show the diverse beautiful creatures that are in the ocean. As for the immersion experience, I included images to help the reader get a better idea of my experience. So I included photos of the white river and canal near the area I did my volunteering as well as a map of where it runs through Indianapolis.

Throughout the whole website, I kept the theme around the ocean and included a lot of blue colors. For the film review, I included a background of the ocean underwater. I chose a very nice blue and made sure that it didn't affect the readability of the text. I made the text black because I felt like it stuck out more when placed on the blue I picked. As for the immersion experience, I included a live background of the ocean underwater. The pictures of the marine life looked really good when placed on top of the live background. I also chose to make any other layouts white to make the website look cleaner. I also used to pull out quotes to emphasize moments in the essays that I thought were important.
